Confirmation Is…

The sacrament of Confirmation celebrates the completion of Baptism and a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit, given through anointing with Sacred Chrism, accompanied by the laying on of hands and prayer, which strengthens the faithful as members of the Church to spread and defend the Catholic Faith by word and deed.

Sacramental Formation

At St. Matthew’s we offer Confirmation for sophomores in high school. Confirmation preparation will be held starting in September on Sunday mornings between Mass times in St. Matt’s School Gym, twice a month. A full schedule is below.

Confirmation Classes will be held on Sunday mornings from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m. in the St. Matthew’s School Gymnasium. Please enter using the front doors on A Ave.

On weeks that it says “attend 10:30 Mass together”, we will have all Confirmation students attend and sit together in Mass after our class. During the other weeks, we invite families to attend whatever Mass works best for you, 4 p.m. on Saturdays, 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.

On weeks that it says “with parents/sponsors”, we invite and encourage parents and/or Confirmation sponsors to come to class. There will be specific formation for parents and sponsors on these dates, because your role in Confirmation is so vital.

The Fall and Winter Confirmation Retreats will be held at St. Matthew’s from 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Starting with Mass, lunch and snacks will be provided.)
