Metro Catholic Outreach – MCO

MCO Update from December 6, 2018

We are having an unpredictably slower week in the pantry these first days of December. Your generosity is allowing us to provide food baskets to over 330 people from almost 100 families. Yes, this is a significant number, but as pantry manager it takes me a while to readjust after several weeks of preparing over 150 baskets/week to get us through Thanksgiving  = )
We enjoyed having Xavier NHS do service last Thursday evening while we were giving out food.
Our regular volunteers are commenting this week on how neat the pantry looks. Our shelves are still nice & full, but having extra food & miscellaneous put away & organized makes a difference.
We’ve started our Financial Assistance appointments for this month. At call in day last Friday, we had hundreds of calls for about 3 dozen spots. We are glad we can help this many families with rent or utilities, to help keep them from becoming homeless.
Here are food items we continually need to replenish:
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Soup
Canned Meat Products
Pasta Sauce & Tomato Products
Canned Fruit
Canned Beans
Pork & Beans
Canned Pasta (Spaghettios, etc.)
Potatoes (fresh or flakes)
Rice products
Helper Meals
Crackers
Muffin Mix
Pancake Mix
Baking mixes & supplies
Jello/Pudding can be a nice treat

Our clients can always use:

Toilet Paper & other paper products
Small/trial sized (hotel) shampoo/conditioner, soap, lotion, etc.
Small toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, floss, etc.

Full-size personal care products (for larger families)

Laundry detergent & cleaning products
(we can bag up pods to give to more families)
*Our supply of personal care items is holding steady, thanks to you & Raining Rose, who sent us lotion, lip balm, & hand sanitizer in the last couple months.
We rely on your steadfast support to keep serving our neighbors in need.
